The Farmhouse Edit: Edition 88

Hi friends!

Welcome to the 88th edition of The Farmhouse Edit: where we share what we’ve been coveting and discovering, from the best of beauty and beyond. Let’s dive in!

Beauty I'm Loving:

I just did a makeup lesson with my good friend and incredible Toronto-based makeup artist Estelle Phillips. Not only did I walk away with so much more knowledge, but a list of products to share! First up is Mac Eyeshadow in the shade Yoghurt. She showed me that we can use this product in the nook of our eyes (between the nose and corner of the eye) and under the eyes to add a pop of brightness. Typically I would use a pink colour corrector in a cream texture but she taught me that using this powder product instead smooths the skin, makes it last longer, and gives us brightness right in the spots we need it. See my diagram below on where to place this brightening product!

Recipe I'm Loving:

When I came across this recipe I knew it would be an instant morning favourite. Strawberries blended into a silky purée, folded through oats and chia, layered with creamy Skyr and finished with a warm cinnamon crumble — indulgent enough to feel like a treat, but every ingredient is doing something. Strawberries flood your skin with Vitamin C for collagen production, chia brings Omega-3s for your barrier, and the probiotics in Skyr support gut health. Make a batch on Sunday and breakfast is handled.

Strawberry Cheesecake Oats Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups very ripe strawberries - tops removed
  • 0.3 cups cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh meyer lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste
  • 0.5 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cups whole rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 2 ounces unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 ounces whole rolled oats for crumble
  • 1 ounce flour
  • 1 ounce white sugar
  • 2 ounces brown sugar packed
  • 0.3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 cups vanilla Greek yogurt or Skyr

Directions:

1) Make the strawberry base: Roughly chop 2 cups very ripe strawberries, add to a blender with 0.3 cups sugar, 2 tablespoons fresh meyer lemon juice, a pinch of fine sea salt, and half a teaspoon vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and pourable — about 20 seconds. You want it silky but not over-processed.

2) Build the oat mixture: Pour the strawberry purée into a large bowl. Fold in 1 cup whole rolled oats and 2 tablespoons chia seeds until everything is evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes — or overnight — until the oats have softened and absorbed the purée.

3) Make the crumble: Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a bowl, use your fingers to work together 2 ounces unsalted butter, softened, 2 ounces whole rolled oats for crumble, 1 ounce flour, 1 ounce white sugar, 2 ounces brown sugar packed, the remaining 0.5 teaspoon fine sea salt, 0.3 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1 pinch pinch of nutmeg, and the remaining 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract until the mixture resembles rough, clumpy sand. Spread it in an even layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

4) Bake the crumble: Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are golden and the whole thing smells like a bakery. Remove from the oven and leave it completely undisturbed until cool — it will crisp up as it sets.

5) Assemble: Spoon a generous layer of the strawberry oat mixture into a jar or small bowl. Add a layer of vanilla Greek yogurt or Skyr on top. Break the cooled crumble into pieces and scatter it generously over the yogurt. Seal and refrigerate.

6) Store and serve: These keep beautifully in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Entertainment I'm Loving:

If you loved Jury Duty, Company Retreat is your next Sunday night sorted. Anthony, a real temp, is hired by a family-owned hot sauce company for their annual retreat — except everyone around him is an actor and absolutely none of it is real. What makes it work is Anthony himself — warm, kind, completely genuine, rolling with every absurd situation thrown at him without ever losing his cool. It is funny in the best possible way; the kind of show that makes you feel good about people. And laugh out loud.
