Beauty I'm Loving:
I have never really enjoyed dry shampoo - as a brunette it always left a white powder at my root, it made my hair unbearably dry and crunchy, and it didn’t actually make it look cleaner or have more volume. I recently picked up the Batiste Brunette Dry Shampoo and I am now a convert! It gives the hair beautiful volume, no white residue, and it would be amazing to cover a few white hairs or grey regrowth in between getting your hair coloured. I will even use it preventatively, before pilates or a workout, knowing my hair will get a bit sweaty and look limp, using it before prevents that from happening and extends days in between washing. They also have a blond version that my mom uses and she said it’s her absolute favourite dry shampoo on the market (and she’s tried them all).
Recipe I'm Loving:
My mom and I have continued to dive deeper into the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and one of their staples is this delicious homemade tea that tastes and feels so deeply nourishing. One thing I have found remarkable about the herbs and foods they recommend is how good they feel to eat. They are so bright and colourful which tells us they are packed with antioxidants and vitamins. In TCM food heals and nourishes the body, compared to a Western diet that just fills us up when we’re hungry or craving something. This tea is made with simple ingredients: goji berries, apples, jujube (Chinese red dates) and ginger. It packs so many vitamins and antioxidants that help with inflammation, digestion, promotes skin health and aids in sleep. I have been sipping on it throughout the day for weeks and it has quickly become a new ritual.
Jujube and Gogi Berry Tea Recipe
- 3 jujube's (rinsed, pitted)
- 1 inch knob of ginger (skinned, sliced)
- 4-5 goji berries (rinsed)
Directions:
Add jujube's and goji berries to a small pot of water, boil for 4-5 minutes. Reduce heat to low simmer, add goji berries, simmer for an additional 2 minutes. Turn off and enjoy!

Entertainment I'm Loving:
For the holidays my mom got me The Artist’s Way Workbook - it can be used as a companion or standalone exercise book to the best selling book. I finally dug into it this morning and can confidently report I believe this will be an enlightening 12 weeks. What I love about the workbook so far is that it’s a practical day by day exercise on opening yourself up to creativity - whether you’re an artist or an intellectual. It gives you daily prompts to open your mind and let go of the daily chatter that stops us from accomplishing our dreams. It’s not overly ‘woo woo’ and just enough ‘self help’ to guide us through thinking more clearly and back to a childlike imagination.
Find of the Week:
I cannot tell you the excitement of finding a good pair of socks. Am I boring, getting old, or just a sucker for a good daily luxury? I’ll go with the latter. I was gifted a pair of Bombas Socks - at first I thought oh ya these clickbait podcast ad socks? Well after trying them the first time I looked forward to wearing them after they came out of the wash every week. They’re so cushiony and supportive they almost feel like a little slipper within your shoes. Well I caved and ordered more for myself (trying the pilates socks version with grippy bottoms!) and for my husband.
