The Farmhouse Edit: Edition 78

Hi friends!

Welcome to the 78th edition of The Farmhouse Edit: where we share what we’ve been coveting and discovering, from the best of beauty and beyond.

Beauty I'm Loving:

This breakthrough was actually highlighted by one of our FH Edit subscribers while we were chatting about our love of the MISSHA tinted SPF from last week. When discussing the best application method we concluded that dampening your beauty sponge with Dew Dream Spray Serum instead of just water and using it to apply your foundation of choice was THE ultimate application method. Skincare benefits + flawless coverage in one!

Recipe I'm Loving:

If you haven’t found yourself on the side of TikTok showcasing traditional Chinese medicine then consider this your TLDR: drink warm water before just about anything, goji berries and jujube is our answer to healthy skin from within, we’re not eating enough miso, and get ready for some incredibly delicious recipes. Japanese sweet potatoes are packed with fiber, antioxidants, benefits for digestion, immunity, skin health, and blood sugar management with a lower glycemic index than regular sweet potatoes. They are also incredibly delicious on their own or as a vehicle for this super easy yet deeply flavourful miso butter. This recipe is highly satisfying, rich in flavour, and packed with nutrients.

Scallion Miso Butter Japanese Baked Potato:

For one serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 Japanese sweet potato
  • 2 tbs softened salted butter
  • 1 tbs miso paste
  • 1 scallion, chopped

Directions:

  • Slice off both ends of the sweet potato, heat oven to 250, roast sweet potato for 20 minutes (you can roast a bunch of them at once, keep them in the fridge, and reheat when you're ready to enjoy them)
  • After 20 minutes place the potato in an ice bath for 2 minutes, heat the oven to 450, and continue roasting for about 20+ minutes, or until potato is soft
  • Meanwhile mix butter, miso paste and scallions in a bowl
  • Remove potato from oven, slice lengthwise, and fill with miso butter

Entertainment I'm Loving:

This recommendation comes with a big NOT PG warning, or as the internet would call it, NSFW (Not Safe for Work). Industry just released its fourth season, so of course I had to start at season 1. This show is a fast-paced dive into the cutthroat world of high finance in London where young bankers are running absolutely wild on the trading floor (and party scene). In true HBO fashion it has a highly engaging storyline with ample plot twists, characters you love to hate and hate to love, drugs, and a lot of gratuitous nudity. I highly recommend pouring yourself a cup of warm water, putting on your Eye Petals, and diving into it (alone).

Find of the Week:

Spending 45 minutes blowdrying my hair just to walk outside, experience a touch of humidity, and turn into a puffy frizz-ball is the bane of my existence. I have been testing frizz control products, and while deep inside I know the true answer is a Keratin treatment that may cost my lungs a few years of their lifespan, I have found the Color Wow Extra Strength Frizz Treatment to be the best at-home solution so far. You mist it onto each section of your hair before blowdrying and I will say it’s doing a pretty good job of keeping the frizz at bay, even on this super rainy day out here.
